Can You Do Cabo in a Weekend from LAX?

Yes, you can absolutely do Cabo in a weekend from LAX. The flight is about two hours nonstop. You leave Friday evening, land around 9 PM local time, and have all of Saturday plus Sunday morning before flying home. That's enough time to hit the beach, eat incredibly well, and come back with a reset you didn't have on Thursday.

The timing

Friday 5-7 PM departure from LAX. Land SJD 8-10 PM local time (one hour ahead of Pacific). Taxi to your hotel in Cabo San Lucas takes about 30 minutes. You're checked in by 10 PM and can grab a late dinner on the marina.

Sunday: enjoy the morning, head to the airport by noon for a 2-3 PM departure. Land LAX around 3-4 PM Pacific time. Home by dinner.

What you need

A valid US passport. No visa required for Mexico stays under 180 days. Most hotels accept US dollars, but pesos get better rates at local restaurants and shops.

Is two days enough?

For Cabo, yes. The city is built for relaxation, not exhaustive sightseeing. One full day gives you: breakfast, beach at Medano, boat tour to the Arch, lunch on the sand, sunset drinks on the marina, dinner at a great restaurant. That's a complete Cabo experience. You don't need a week to enjoy it.

What you should skip on a weekend trip: the drive to Todos Santos (too far), sport fishing (takes a full day), and resort all-inclusive packages (you're only there two nights, eat the real food in town instead).

What it costs

$450 to $800 per person for flights and hotel. Check current prices on our LAX to Cabo packages page.
