LeaveFriday (“we,” “us”) operates leavefriday.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights.

What we collect

Email address. When you sign up for our newsletter or save a trip, we collect your email. We use it to send you weekend trip recommendations and price alerts. We never sell your email to third parties.

Usage data. We use PostHog (a privacy-focused analytics tool) to understand how people use the site: which pages are visited, which trips are saved, and which outbound links are clicked. This data is aggregated and not tied to your personal identity unless you've provided your email.

Location data. We use approximate geographic information provided by Vercel's hosting platform (derived from your IP address) to detect the nearest California airport and personalize your experience. We do not store your IP address or precise location.

Cookies. We use essential cookies for site functionality. PostHog may set analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels from ad networks.

How we use your data

We use your data to send you weekend trip recommendations via email, improve the site based on usage patterns, and track which trips are popular (the view and save counts you see on the site). We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Service providers

We use the following third-party services to operate LeaveFriday:

Vercel (hosting and deployment), Resend (email delivery), PostHog (analytics), and Upstash/Redis (data storage). These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies and do not use your data for their own marketing.

Affiliate links

When you click an outbound link to Hotels.com, Booking.com, Google Flights, or another travel provider, you leave our site and are subject to that provider's privacy policy. We may earn a commission from bookings made through these links. This does not affect the price you pay. See our affiliate disclosure for details.

Data retention

We retain your email for as long as you're subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. Upon unsubscription, we remove your email from our active mailing list within 10 business days.

Your rights

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

Right to know. You can request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months, including the categories of information, the sources, the business purpose, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.

Right to delete. You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions.

Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Right to non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. No action is required on your part.

EU/EEA residents (GDPR)

Children

LeaveFriday is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
